Principal Engineer

valid8Me is a digital identity & client onboarding due diligence SaaS platform. We are building a world-class product engineering team with the mission to build a global de-facto digital identity for individuals and corporates. This will be a hybrid role with 2 days working onsite (Cork City Centre), and 3 days working at home per week. Your role in our team

• Design and develop secure, reliable, and scalable solutions for a globally distributed FinTech application using the latest technologies (there is an expectation of hands-on software engineering)

• Provide technical leadership to the engineering and product teams

• Work closely with our engineering and product teams to create a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

• Act as a subject matter expert in specific domains or technologies

• Research, create and evaluate technical solution alternatives for the business needs using current and upcoming technologies and frameworks

About You:

• 6+ years’ professional experience with Java, ideally using Spring Boot and Gradle

• Collaborator – share ideas, documentation, and leading practice

• Conceptual thinker – ability to extract, analyse, and document complex business and technical requirements/strategies

• Experience architecting and implementing large-scale enterprise applications

• Strong knowledge of OOP and REST design principles

• Experience working with core AWS technologies - EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda

• Experience with cloud-native technologies such as containers (ECS, EKS) and serverless computing

• Experience in leading projects, mentoring junior team members, and doing code reviews with the team

• Experience with functional and non-functional aspects of Software Architecture

• Excellent interpersonal, organisational, team building, data gathering, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Strong communication skills to effectively communicate complicated subjects to both technical and non-technical audiences

What else you could bring (beneficial)

• Previous experience working with or delivering SaaS solutions and products

• Experience working with some of the following technologies: Docker, Redis, Kafka

• Significant experience with database technologies such as MySQL, including schema design, query optimisation and SQL
